Wheres everyone shoot?
Where is your favorite place to shoot your weapons? Is it mostly on paper or tactical / senarios or just blast away/plink?

I am a member of the Harbor Springs Outdoors Club and we have a range 10 miles north of Harbor Springs. The Emmet Count Sportsman have a range next to ours and they shoot alot of shotgun! The HSOC has ranges for handgun...25 yard and also rifle 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 yard. We also have a archery 3D walk thru range. It's a great place!

STEEL SHOOT
It’s that time of the year again to start our
summer shooting and this year we are going
to hold steel shoots every first Monday of the
month. What do we do at steel shoots? The
steel shoot is designed for everyone to come
and have fun with your handgun or shotgun
(buckshot only) on steel reactive targets. We
have a variety of steel targets that you can
shoot including 22 rimfire. We encourage
most all handguns even 44mag that can be
used on some of the targets. We have bowling
pin table that you can use your shotgun
(with 00buck or less) on and your big handguns.
It is also a time to see a lot of different
guns that others have and learn about different
styles and their likes and dislikes. People
are more than willing to help you if you are a
beginner so don’t be shy come on out.
The cost is $5.00 per night to help with replacement
costs. So come on out and have
a good time. Hearing and Eye Protection is
a must.
INTERNATIONAL DEFENSIVE
PISTOL ASSOCIATION (IDPA)
ACTIVITIES
IDPA practice shoots begin Monday, May
10 at 6pm and will occur every Monday
night, weather permitting, through August
30. We usually have a group of 8-10 shooters
of varied background and experience.
Average round count per COF is 75-100
depending to a great degree on how many
shooters are present. Over the past several
years we continue to have good practices
and a lot of positive encouragement from
shooters who attend. There will be no organized
practice on Memorial Day, Fourth
of July and Labor Day weekends. Also if it’s
pouring down rain in Cedar or very likely to
rain, the shoot will be cancelled. If you’re
running late and going to arrive after 6pm,
we can accommodate you. Both Ed and
I will appreciate a hand in setting up the
COF if you can arrive around 5pm.
Each week different simulated self-defense
scenarios will provide a challenge
for the average shooter as well as the experienced
shooter. Depending upon the
COF there are paper targets, steel targets
and moving targets. Performance will be
evaluated using IDPA format and scoring
rules. The intent is to provide general practice
geared towards IDPA competition and
real-life threats. This is not an activity for
a person who just purchased his/her first
handgun and has had no initial training.
A signed liability waiver is required and
a small donation to CRGC for supplies is
anticipated. Shooters must have a sturdy
belt-holster. Belt magazine carriers are
highly recommended. (Pocket holsters,
cross-draw holsters and shoulder holsters
are not permitted. Safety reasons)[b]

Re: Wheres everyone shoot?
I have a range set up on my property, I have some steel targets including a silhouette and a 4-plate competition tree, as well as some smaller reactionary targets and paper targets thrown in for fun. I like shooting here over shooting at a range because I can practice the way I like, real world, I even set up my own version of a 3-gun shoot which involves running and range estimation using a rifle, shotgun and handgun, it's alot of fun. That steel shoot at the Cedar club sounds like alot of fun, I may have to check that out next month.
